Zeena Testimonial

Meet Zeena, an inaugural member of the Forward’s Abraham Cahan Legacy Society.

It was Zeena’s beloved Bubbe, pictured holding Zeena on her lap, who started the family tradition of reading the Forward. Her parents’ generation continued to enjoy buying the paper on the newsstand or receiving it by mail. As an adult, Zeena was “thrilled” to discover that there was an online edition in English that was always accessible.

"What I particularly love about the Forward is its balanced approach, which regularly presents so many different viewpoints. The paper succeeds in bringing together Jews with different levels of observance, and does not disrespect those with different viewpoints.  Even in English, the writing has a real Yiddishe taam (Yiddish taste), which truly comes from the heart."

Zeena feels that it is both her fond memories and her current enjoyment of the Forward that influenced her decision to make the Forward a beneficiary of her estate. She has designated this gift because she believes “that good, honest journalism is more important than ever for the American Jewish community and for the country at large,” and will continue to be so for future generations.
